The workshop is tailored towards practitioners in the industry to provide a good understanding on the use of PLAXIS 2D for the finite element analysis of deep excavations. This in-person training organized in partnership with Terrasol-Setec will review the most-common practical aspects of modelling excavation and shoring systems for all types of soils.
This 1-day instructor-led course considers the latest PLAXIS 2D development in the field of deep excavations and design of shoring systems.
The course content includes:
· Mastering the fundamental modelling features related to deep excavation problems in PLAXIS 2D,
· Optimally choosing the Finite Element (FE) model input parameters (constitutive soil behavior, soil reinforcement, dewatering)
· Post-processing the calculation results to estimate the surface displacements and the structural force development inside the shoring systems.
· Practical design aspects (Requirements from Standards (Eurocodes, BS)- Design approaches from Eurocode 7 – Verification of SLS and ULS)
The event is organized with the support of terrasol who will share their practical experience of using PLAXIS in designing retaining walls.
The workshop consists of 8 hours. It will be held by senior PLAXIS and Terrasol-Setec consultants with years of practical experience in deep excavation modelling and design. The mixture of lectures and hands-on computer analyses making the workshop more than just a software training and the presence of internationally recognized experts in the field is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge in the use of advanced numerical methods in geotechnical engineering in relation with current design practices.
Training attendees must bring their own laptops with the appropriate versions of PLAXIS installed (PLAXIS 2D V22). The latest software version will be sent to all participants once registered.
Complimentary temporary license keys will be provided to all course participants for the entire event duration to run the many proposed hands-on exercises properly.
